Covered Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

Covered doesn't have a company server. Your receipts, warranty details, and photos sync only through your own personal iCloud account.

What we collect

Nothing on a company server — there isn't one. Receipt photos, merchant, item, price, date, warranty length, and notes are stored in the app's local database on your device and synced across your own devices via your iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit), using Apple's standard iCloud encryption and security.

Camera and Photo Library

Covered uses the camera (or, on the Simulator, the photo library) to scan a receipt. On-device OCR (Apple's Vision framework) reads the merchant, date, and amount directly from the photo — nothing is sent to a server to do this. The photo is stored in your iCloud-synced local database and is never uploaded to any Covered-operated service, because none exists.

Household Sharing

If you turn on Share a Household Vault, receipts are shared with the family members you specifically invite via Apple's iCloud sharing, the same mechanism used to share an album in Photos. Only people you invite and who accept can see the shared vault.

Notifications

Expiry reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. Covered has no push server and never sees a notification's content.

Purchases

Covered's subscription and lifetime-purchase options are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. Covered never sees your payment details.

Data deletion

Delete the app, and remove it from iCloud in your device's iCloud storage settings, and every receipt and photo is gone — there's no copy on any Covered-operated server, because none exists.

Changes

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page.
